Cairns is the Giant Black Marlin Capital
of the World.
In these magical waters between Cairns and Ribbons Reef
10 (Lizard Island), 'granders' have been caught and released
every year.
Charters can be organised either on extended days for
the reefs north of Cairns or a single day out of Cairns.
Our Heavy Tackle season opens on the
1st of September and runs through to the end of December,
although there are still a few Giant Black and smaller
Black Marlin around in January. Anglers from all over
the world head for Cairns, the Giant Black Marlin Capital
of the World.
EXTENDED CHARTERS
Whether you choose to live aboard Billfish, or stay in a
5 star luxury resort or opt to Mothership, BILLFISH SPORTS
FISHING can organise a charter to suit you.
1. Liveaboard charters are for those who wish to
enjoy the company of our crew throughout their fishing holiday.
MV Billfish sleeps 4 anglers comfortably. We provide all
bait, tackle, linen, meals, softdrinks/waters, BYO alcohol.

2. Mothershipping offers the anglers the comfort
and luxury of 5 star appointments including its own chef
to prepare sumptuous meals, the best wines and beers, comfortable
air-conditioned sleeping berths, TV/Videos, CD players.
MV Billfish will depart Cairns with the anglers and spend
the day fishing Black Marlin, returning to the Mothership
by evening. Mothershipping enables the angler to roam the
fishing hotspots anywhere between Cairns and Lizard Island.
3. Island Accommodation combines the excitement of
Black Marlin Fishing with the luxury of a 5 star island
retreat. Lizard Island has recently been revamped by the
P&O group and affords the ultimate in seclusion and
luxury. For this combination of island/fishing holiday we
suggest a minimum of 7 days. Anglers can fly to Lizard Island
ex Cairns and be transferred to MV Billfish each day after
breakfast - How civilised!
DAY CHARTERS
Sole charters for single day Giant Black
Marlin Fishing depart Cairns Marlin Marina at 8.00am and
return by approx 6.30pm. We operate these charters with
a maximum of 4 anglers and 3 crew. All bait tackle, lunch,
tea, coffee, softdrinks and waters are supplied.
Share charters can be organised and if not on MV Billfish,
we will be able to organise a share charter with another
Marlin Boat. All shares depart ex Cairns Marlin Marina
between 7.30am and 8.00am and return at approx 6.30pm.
Bait, tackle, softdrinks, water and lunch is provided.
Share charters operate with a minimum and maximum of 4
anglers.
